Artwork > Chamber of Reflection

Chamber of Reflection is a meditation on “the flow state”, perception, and the unseen connections between senses. It invites musicians, listeners, and creators to step into a realm where sound is not confined to the ears, but spills into vision and space, demanding a fuller, more embodied engagement with the act of listening. “The flow state: art of the impossible" refers to Steven Kotler's concept that achieving an optimal state of consciousness, known as flow, is the key to accomplishing seemingly impossible feats. Enveloping Studio 10 of Funkadelic Music Studio's floor, ceiling, and walls with a dense network of interweaving lines, the installation creates an illusion of being inside a massive, pulsating web. These lines, (painted / drawn in the Greenpoint gallery studio while the artist was experimenting with deepening their connection to “the flow state”) create a visual rhythm that echoes the flow of sound waves, inviting visitors into an environment where sound and space become inseparable.
This installation was part of Funkadelic Studios Studio 10 Artist Installation Series curated by Nelson Alexander and Funkadelic Studios located in Midtown, Manhattan.
